From The Shenandoah Valley Guide

Late Summer 2004

I am off to The Shoppes at Mauzy. This is a destination in its own right... Located at I-81 Exit 257, the building housing The Shoppes has been a stopping point for travelers for more than 150 years. An old stagecoach inn, it still echoes with the footsteps of travelers seeking its hospitality. Today it is sought out for the eclectic blend of antiques, collectibles, giftware, reproduction furniture, and 'purposeful clutter' (That's my favorite new term—I have plenty of it!) found throughout the inn and the various outbuildings. Miss Mauzy—a lovely longhaired cat—is waiting to welcome you.

At this time of year the grounds are something to behold. Garden ornaments grace beautiful plantings. Everything, both inside and out, is displayed as you might use it in your home or garden. You'll leave with bags, boxes, or steamer trunks of goodies, dreaming of all the ways you will re-decorate your home.
